1. Lesson 8 Workbook A, page 14 - 15.

2. Reading Practice: Practice reading the paragraph on pp. 51 and 52 three times in the “My First Chinese Reader”.

3. Spoken Language Show is on April 26. Please start practicing your part of the story.

4. We reviewed the sentence structures from Lesson 5 to 7 today. Please go to page 31-32, 39-40, 46-47 and practice the substitution drills again.

1. Workbook B: page 5 to page 6.

2. Sentence Structure Practice: Practice the sentences and conversations from page7 to page10 three times in the “My First Chinese Reader”. Try to recognize and memorize the characters.

3. Practice the characters and terms from today’s class. You can find the audio files for each lesson under Pronunciation on the class website: www.citycicada.com/CFL1

4. Please practice for the poem assigned to you for the Spoken Language Show.

Week 7 : Oct. 18 - Oct. 26

1. Lesson 2 workbook B: If you haven’t complete finish page 3 – 4 in class, please complete them.

2.Sentence Structure Practice: Practice the sentences and conversations from p.7 – p.10 three times in the “My First Chinese Reader”. Try to recognize and memorize the characters.

3.If you didn’t finish the radical worksheet, please finish it at home. Click here to download the worksheet.


4.Practice the characters and terms from Lesson 2. You can find the audio files for each lesson under Pronunciation.

5. Please start to practice for the poem for the Spoken Language Show. We will also do some art work and practice in class. The Spoken Language Show is on Nov. 9.

1. Make Hanyu Pinyin flashcards: This week we are making the double vowels. Color all the vowels with red then glue onto a white index card. Keep them together with other Pinyin cards in a Ziploc bag.

Use the correct color for each letter: ang / eng / ong / ing

2. Lesson 2 Flashcards: If you don't have the flashcard sheet in your folder, please download from here.

3. Sentence Structure Practice: Practice the sentences and conversations from p.1 – p.5 three times. Try to recognize and memorize the characters.

Week 2 : September 7 - September 14

1. Make Hanyu Pinyin flashcards: Color each consonant in blue then glue onto a white index card. This week you should make the flashcards for consonants in blue: j / q / x / zh / ch / sh / r / z / c / s / y / w

2. Lesson 1 flash card: Cut out each character and glue on a flash card. Write the pinyin and the meaning on the back of each flash card, use pp. 6 in “My First Chinese Reader” to help you with pinyin and the definition.

3. Skip Homework #3

Week 1 : August 24 - September 7

1. Practice the phonetic tones, vowels and consonants listed on your class notice at least 5 times before next class. For vowels and consonants pronunciation, please click on Pronunciation link on the left.

2. Hanyu Pinyin letter coloring: a / o / e / i / u in RED, the four tones in GREEN, and b / p / m / f / d / t / n / l / g / k / h in BLUE.

3. Complete the Hanyu Pinying Listening handout that Mike put in your orange or red folder. If you can't find one, you can download it by clicking here. Take out the sheet and click each to hear the Hanyu Pinying. Listen carefully and write your answer or circle the correct answer on your sheet.
